A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, I worked at United Airlines Headquarters, and I just wanted to see the world. My husband and I would take every opportunity we could get to travel anywhere, often at a moment's notice. Not knowing if there would be seats for us to get on a flight, there were times we showed up at the airport still narrowing down our destination options. Sometimes the flight load decided for us ("Portland is full. Do you want to just go to London?"). It was a fun time. There were two byproducts of this, however: 1) Since our trips were uncertain and often last-minute, we didn't do the amount of research that we do now. This meant that not everything we did was worth recommending. That said, I marvel at how well some of our early trips worked out, given that we were such novices. 2) During the first six or seven years of our travels--and this absolutely blows my mind when I think back on it--I did not always bring my camera on smaller, domestic trips! This was before smartphones, so it's not like I had a good camera phone to fall back on. I can't even fathom how this was a reality for me. How things have changed. Not only that, but on many of our weekend getaways, I barely took any pictures, and they're not the best. So given all of that, some places are not getting their own dedicated page unless we do a return visit. Below is the best I can offer for now.

I went here twice: once on a business trip, and once with a friend. She and I were young and didn't know how to plan a trip. (Well, we also didn't know if we would get on the flight standby, either). Oh, and this was when I was still taking pictures with actual film that needed to be developed. Crazy, eh?

This trip wasn't from that long ago, so the only thing I can surmise is that since we had just done a giant trip to Asia a couple weeks earlier, maybe we were tired and didn't feel like taking many pictures.
